The problem I have with inkjet, on A4 size machines, is mostly from a standpoint of machines sitting for a period of time.
We have a TON of machines in schools, and just the thought of them being idle during Christmas, spring break, summer
just makes me a little skittish. Not to mention the schools that pretty much shut down their HVAC during the summer.
If ink drying up is resolved that might correct it.
I know on the Epson machines they have a reflow or something similar that keeps the heads clean along with a wipe unit
to keep the head moist.
Ink would be better...no drums, carrier, toner, transfer belts etc.
The other issue would be the 600# gorilla in the room. PAPER. Most schools will use the CHEAPEST paper they can find.
Then complain about the CQ or jamming. if the ink can transfer properly on garbage paper it wouldn't be much of
an issue.

My other concern is the mess. If a little toner leaks I can wipe or vacuum it up. If ink leaks on some fancy lawyers Brazilian hardwood or $200/sq ft carpet we're kinda screwed. Maybe I'm over thinking it. But I genuinely worry about leak issues while servicing.
Why does every customer think they're the first one to ever say: "you've been here so much we should get you an office, ha, ha, ha"?
.... nothing is going to happen with Toshiba Tec and inkjet product until Etria launches product likely in summer 2026. Even then, the focus will be on toner based product.
With new product launches, usually Toshiba's first attempts are at where the money is. The low end SMB inkjet space may not even be on the radar.
Riso purchased the Toshiba inkjet head business and their products are aimed at the high volume business. All reviews of the Riso product are good. I would not be surprised to to see a technology sharing partnership .
Epson has claimed that their inkjet product works A-OK with 20 lb bond paper. Earlier Epson product required a much higher cost premium paper.
